Our Process

NY Crossroads is focused on helping pre-seed stage companies advance their businesses.  Once accepted to the program, we work closely with early stage founders to understand the vision, opportunity, and plan.  We seek to help founders present their narrative and opportunity in a way that will instill confidence in and comfort with the founder team.  Our objective in each relationship is to offer value and perspective to founder teams, to help them articulate and explore the acceleration path of their company, and to help them prepare for productive and compelling investor interactions.

We will conduct two application periods each year and during those windows, review submissions on a rolling basis.  If an application window is open and you think you are aligned with our program criteria, please submit your application.

Our Approach

We make every effort for our investment process to be respectful of the time committed by all participants including founders, fund managers, and investor participants.  We strive to be a constructive participant in any fundraising process, whether or not we will ultimately write a check, and and we will always communicate openly with founders.

Application

We love hearing from founders by email, but if you want to apply, please submit your application.  Applications are comprised of responses to approximately 75 questions, a pitch deck, and a video recorded pitch.  Application are reviewed by a panel and are scored against a structured rubric.

Screening

The Screening Committee is comprised of NY Crossroads team members charged with reviewing applications and rubric scores.  The screening committee will determine which applications are accepted to the program.

12 Week
Accelerator
Program

NY Crossroads operates a competitive 12 week accelerator focused on stage appropriate due diligence preparation.  We recognize that early stage companies don't always have the answers to every document request and may not be fully prepared for a process they haven't yet been through.  We are a constructive and flexible partner in helping prepare.  That being said, it is a competitive program w/ off ramps for companies that are not prepared to complete program expectations.  It is anticipated that of 50 companies beginning in each cohort, 20-30 will complete the program and be eligible for selection to the Venture Competition.

Selection

Once a cohort of participants have completed the 12 week accelerator, the NY Crossroads selection committee will select semifinalists for participation in the Venture Competition and confirm their intent to locate in the Hudson Valley if selected as a winner.

Venture Competition

Semifinalists attend a 2 day, in-person event, at which we celebrate the Live-Work-Play ethos of the Hudson Valley and conduct investor pitches, meetings, final diligence, and judging of the Venture Competition. On the final day, winners are announced and celebrated.
